'we are obsessed with people getting to know us, assuming they'll keep it at a distance...and this is our problem: we can't deal with the face-to-face, so we let technology replace the space that people are supposed to feel...let's face it, we are internally afraid of what's real.'
i've always been a fan of russell simmons presents def poetry jam, so i decided to add it to my my netflix queue. spoken word poetry is incredibly powerful to me and something always resonates with me when i listen. and while this post goes against the message, it's something to think about. something, at least, that i've been thinking about in the last few weeks that i've taken a social-networking break...and substituting it for real, face-to-face, human interaction. it's sort of like a breath of fresh air.
